Welcome to St Martin’s School Autumn term 2016! I hope that you have all managed to get into the school routine without too many hiccups! It was great to see so many smiling faces on Wednesday and I am already proud of our new Reception class, who have settled in so well.
There are also a few new adult faces around the school and I would like to introduce our team of wonderful St Martin’s Staff:
Miss Symonds-Reception Mrs Johnstone-Years 4, 5 and 6
Mrs Gheissari-Year 1 and Deputy Head Miss Tate-Music
Mrs Southcombe-Year 1 Mrs Shafei -TA and afterschool club
Mrs Corben-Year 2 and Deputy Head Mrs Pastecchia- TA
Mrs Cooper-Year 3 Mrs Clarke- TA
Mrs Mc Coy-Year 4 Mr Barraclough- TA
Mrs Wells-Year 5 Mr Holloway- Volunteer TA Student
Mrs Male-Year 6 Mrs Whiteside- Administrator
All staff have been working hard to ensure that pupils have got off to the best start. Please feel free to talk to any of them if you have any questions at the end of the day. Which brings me to my next point:
All children will now be collected from the playground after school. Children will be waiting in their year groups and parents will collect the children from their class teacher. This will hopefully lead to a quick pick-up, so afterschool club can begin promptly at 3:35pm. If you are picking up from Stokewood, (Year 3 Tuesday, Years 5 and 6 Thursday and Year 1 Friday) please make sure you are there by 3:20pm so any other pick-ups from school can be made on time.
I am also pleased to announce the new positions of responsibility for the Year 6 children. Head Boy and Head Girl have been appointed as Cameron Skelton and Shayla Macey. Our Sports Captains are Claudia Edwards and Hal Hughes. Our Swimming Captain is Charlie Dawson and House Captains go to Robins – Ben Vuyuuru, Wrens – Tanya Chawla and Sparrows – Mia Bebb.
Our first competition of the year was won by Tabitha Spencer-Williams and Cameron Skelton, who have named our school owl. Cameron came up with Owlbert and Tabitha Mr Hootsworth so he is now Mr Owlbert Hootsworth! He has been looking around the school this week and has awarded Year 2 five minutes extra playtime for being particularly neat and tidy!
Finally, please find attached the slip to volunteer for the Gym or Swim Rota. This involves walking the children from the school to Stokewood Leisure centre and then back to school after the session. We greatly appreciate the time given from all of our volunteers and if everyone gets involved it usually works out as only once or twice per term.
