dsc01347Today has been an exciting end to the week. At lunchtime the school council organised a fantastic Treat Sale in order to raise money to buy a table tennis table. We were so impressed with how well the Council Reps worked together to make it a fun and tasty event!

We also began painting a school mural – led by Mrs Male, to brighten up the playground and in memory of Mrs Millar Wookey. The mural will be beach themed and a group of children (selected for their careful artwork) will contribute to the design.

On the subject of food, it is so lovely to be able to have treats in school for special events, however we do ask that the food pupils bring into school for a lunch is healthy. At break time, only fruit and vegetable snacks are allowed, and we ask that the lunches do not include nuts, crisps or chocolate bars (chocolate brownies or cakes are fine as long as they are not the gooey, melty, messy kind!).

There are lots of healthy options and many creative alternatives for more fussy eaters! Sandwiches, wraps, rolls and pitta pockets are very popular, but more of our children are also bringing in pasta and rice dishes in thermos food flasks. Popcorn and rice snacks are a good replacement for crisps.

dsc01341We also ask that if you send in grapes, that they are cut in half to avoid choking.

Finally, the SMART PTA had a successful meeting last Friday and had lots of fantastic ideas. You can read the minutes of the meeting on their Facebook page (search ‘SMART PTA’ – with the school crest). It is a closed group so please ask to join and they will approve any parents of the school. I am sure that you will be hearing from them soon, please get involved!
