We have had a busy week this week, starting with our Year 5 and 6 Swim Team competing at the Bournemouth Schools Swimming Gala. The most notable of our achievements were 3rd place for Charlie Dawson in the freestyle, 2nd place for the Year 5 boys relay and both boys teams coming 3rd overall. A great set of results. Mrs Abley said, “It was an amazing night with some fantastic swims from St Martin’s pupils, even up against club swimmers they did extremely well. Behaviour was impeccable!” Thank you to Mrs Male and Mrs Roffey who were a great support.

On Tuesday, Year 2 and 3 went on a school trip to Pizza Express and Bournemouth Library. They spent a lively morning learning about good food, tasting fresh ingredients and making pizzas. After a delicious lunch they walked to the library. Val (the lovely librarian) read two stories to the children and showed them around the different sections.

Back at school Callum Goodwin and Sebby Roffey led a ‘Freestyle Football’ assembly. They had learnt all of their words and demonstrated some football tricks and asked the audience to join in. It was fun, interesting and exciting, well done boys!

Still on Tuesday…. Stella from Dance 4 All visited our Year 5 class for a Street Dance workshop. She taught some funky moves and choreography skills, which we’ll all see soon in their Class Dance.

Wednesday, the Year 6 netball team went to BSG to play in a tournament. We came 4th out 6 teams in our group. Great teamwork and sportsmanship was demonstrated by all involved.

And on Thursday… Year 2 led a fantastic assembly all about Chinese New Year. They told the story of the 12 animals which represent the Chinese Calendar, showed their lanterns and performed a Dragon Dance and song.

Next week is our Sponsored Skip. Please encourage your child to practice for this event. I have sent some more sponsor forms for those who have said they have gone astray.
