Thank you for the sponsorship money and donations we received for the British Heart Foundation. We raised £557 an amazing total. Four children raised over £50 and will receive a digital skipping rope.
We are now collecting Sainsbury’s Active School vouchers; please encourage family, friends and neighbours to send them in.
This week we have been trying our skills at joke writing and making people laugh as part of the Red Nose Day Comedy Classroom. Year 2 wrote some particularly good jokes using homophones. One of my favourites was: Why was the fruit all different? Because there wasn’t a pair!
The children can enter their best 3 jokes on the Comedy Classroom Competition website and the winning ones will be read out on Blue Peter.
We were enjoying the windy weather at school yesterday. In a PE lesson, pupils got to experiment with Air Resistance parachutes and balancing!
Jayden Benstead-Brooks-Dravecz deserves a special mention and a head teacher’s award. He was brave enough to be involved in a slapstick sketch involving a custard pie!
On Tuesday Darryl Squires (Tilly Y4 and Finley Y2) came in to talk to us about ‘Giving Africa’ and the work the charity is doing in Burkina Faso. Darryl has visited the country and told the children about life in a very different environment to ours. He showed a video clip of children opening the Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes to demonstrate how small things we can do, can impact the lives of others. The children were very inspired and the School Council were coming up with ways in which they could do some more fundraising.
