Today we have all had fun dressed in green and animal onesies, raising money for the Margaret Green Animal Rescue Centre. This local charity has received our support already this term and in total we have raised £111.50. Thank you for all of your donations. We will be giving the money to the charity after half-term.
Yesterday, Years 2-6 competed at our school swimming gala. All of the children swam incredibly well and there were some very exciting races. The behaviour of the children was exemplary and they displayed excellent sportsmanship. Mrs Abley and Mrs Dunkerley ensured that the children were well prepared and the whole event ran smoothly. The Wrens won the House Swimming Shield, meaning that the pupils who swam for their team, collected the most points, being placed 1st, 2nd or 3rd. As our Swim Captain, Charlie Dawson deserves a special mention. He was awarded the Winter Shield for Overall swimming achievement and Best Boy on the day. Amelia Allen won Best Girl.
Zoe and Sanjana (Year 3), led an assembly this week all about music. Zoe plays the violin and Sanjana plays the piano. They talked about their interest in music and shared some of the musical knowledge they have. They were well prepared and delivered their presentation with confidence.
At the SMART (St Martin’s Association of Relatives and Teachers) meeting it was decided that some of the money raised for the children should be spent on picnic benches. Two small picnic benches (which also double as sand pits) have been bought for the lower school and two for the upper school. The picnic benches make the playground a more comfortable area for picnics at lunchtime and give us more options for using the outdoor space during lesson time.
Next week, I will be at Osmington Bay in Weymouth with Mrs Male and the Year 6 class. So, this is the last newsletter before half-term. Please have a look at the school Facebook to keep up to date with what has been happening in school.
