Week 12 2.12.16

  • 15th December 2016

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas…

Lots of sparkly cards, decorations and crafts have been spotted around the school this week. I know that Year 1 really enjoyed creating salt-dough tree ornaments and Year 2 were putting the finishing touches on their Christmas Table centrepieces.

From Monday, the school Post-box will be out and children will be able to send their friends cards using our delivery service. Please put the recipient’s name and class on the envelope. If your child is sending a lot of cards to the same class, please put an elastic band around them as it makes it so much easier for our sorters. All cards will be delivered on Tuesday 13th December (Christmas Jumper Day).

Thank you for all of the Christmas Fayre goodies that you have provided today. If any of you have any more Raffle Prizes to donate please see me or the SMART team and we can add them to the list, prizes so far include Headphones (worth over £300), Wine (£50) and £100 cash! Tickets will be on sale from Monday, every child will have a book of tickets to sell.

I now have sign-up sheet for anyone who is able to help with stalls. Most of the children have shown an interest in running a stall and many have signed up to do slots of 1 hour, please check that you can be there to help at that time. Spread the word, please feel free to share the event from our Facebook page.

This week Shayla Macey, Amelia Allen and Anjali Roath delivered an assembly all about Art. The girls chose some of their favourite artistic styles to talk about and showed some lovely pictures.

They also helped to announce the winner of our Christmas card competition. First prize went to Jazmine Millar-Wookey (Year 3), whose Christmas tree design will look great on our school card. There were so many brilliant entries, with many pupils showing real creative and artist flair. I was very impressed!

A few reminders:
• If your child is going to be picked up by another parent or adult, please inform me at the door in the morning, write a note or email admin@stmartinsschool.net.
• Please check your children’s bags, diaries and reading records for notes and letters.
